Bikers Strike Again

Ok, I know the annoying bikers have been done to death, and I pretty much just expect bad behavior from them now, but I saw two extra prime examples of bikers who can't even use common sense last week. At least one of them should be Dumbass of the Day.
1. Biker is riding his bike on the lower level of MacArthur station. He rides it to the up-escalator for the Southbound platform and actually rides the bike onto the escalator and once his back tire has gotten onto the escalator finally puts his feet down and straddles the bike for the ride up.
2. Biker gets on at the rear car of the train. This train has a little bike diagram stenciled on the wall by the doors. He parks his bike in this area and it's not far from a guy in the seat facing forward next to it. He then leaves his bike here leaning against the wall and walks back to the middle of the car where there is an empty seat that is far from his bike. Meanwhile the bike rolls towards the guy in the seat with the acceleration of the train. It rolls the other direction as the train slows. I really thought it would tip over onto it's side and hurt someone since biker dude didn't want to stand and take care of his bike. He didn't really seem to care.
These are in addition to the usual bikers trying to sneak on to trains where bikes aren't allowed or trying to board on the lead car.

And bikers wonder why most
And bikers wonder why most BART employees can't stand them. Generalizations are made about bikers based on these things. A majority of bikers (braces for backlash from this) don't like to obey the rules. Or are lazy and looking for shortcuts. Or are the super-psycho, hilighter-vest wearing eco-hippie maniacs.
Where are the pictures :)

I missed this one the first time around. :) I don't think I'm at all like that except I can be super-psycho. You all have been warned.
I bike. And I am constantly
I bike.
And I am constantly irritated by jerks with bikes who feel totally entitled to be completely inconsiderate of everyone else and screw it up for the rest of us. I am willing to bet that MOST bicyclists are reasonably considerate -- you just don't notice them the way you notice the jerks.
I mean, I stop at stoplights almost solely to demonstrate to drivers and other users of the road that there is at least one bicyclist out there that follows the rules of the road.
These stories are amazing, though.
One thing I have to say is that BART employees have had to be creative about posting signs to remind -- or educate -- bicyclists about what they can and can't do in BART. When I moved here 6 years ago, I'm pretty sure there weren't any signs posted directly on the escalators about not taking bikes on them. Now they're pretty ubiquitous in the stations where that offense is common.
This is a hot-button issue for me. I registered for this site just to respond to this post.
I don't think it's about bicyclists as a group; I think it's just how people act in today's society. I drive occasionally (City CarShare), walk to work every day, and bike occasionally for transportation and recreation. And in every situation, I notice all of those groups (drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists) doing things that are at best inconsiderate and often dangerous.
So it's not about bicyclists per se. It's just easy to pick them out since they're hauling around a big metal thing with two wheels.
My favorites are the people
My favorites are the people who HAVE to get into the train FIRST. After pushing their way in front of you, they HAVE sit in the seat adjacent to the bike parking forcing me to have to stand. I suppose that's the thanks I get for being courteous and letting other passengers get on before me, huh?
Not all bikers are jerks (some are), likewise not all non-bikers are jerks (but some are).
()_()(._.)
there's designated bike
there's designated bike parking on trains? you mean the spots reserved for wheelchairs?
some of the newer cars have
some of the newer cars have designated bike areas
Two cars, to be
Two cars, to be specific.
2520 and 252X (something).
