C'mon, people! Participate!

Well, I know we get nearly a quarter of a million hits per month, but we average about one thousand posts per month.
We've got over 600 registered users! That's a pretty big milestone. I often see people lurking around, but I haven't really gotten a good chance to meet you guys, understand who people are, where they come from, what BART-related issues they are passionate about, and what brings them to BARTRage.
We of course have our regulars. And I've grown to know and understand who you guys are, your personalities, and so fourth, and I would be lying if I said I didn't look forward to hearing what you guys have to say. But where is everyone else?
Participation is the key, someone once said.
We have a ton of message boards, forums, and a chat room for people to express their views, problems, and offer feedback on other people's posts. I encourage everyone to come online and post once an a while. Ya know, not just every few months.

What more can be said that
What more can be said that has already been said?
No, I think my experiences have already been well documented by other BartRage participants.
I agree -- I often just
I agree -- I often just don't have that much to add, as I think that most normal riders' BART "rage" stems from the same general set of issues:
- the trains are filthy and hobojuice abounds;
- people view BART as their gym, dining room, bathroom and phone booth;
- if you are female, you have probably seen a man expose himself at some point;
- I am *still* house-hunting in Albany and El Cerrito and even up in the hills, you can hear BART;
- many of the stations have some scary characters hanging around them.
And so on. Also, I personally feel that my knowledge level of all things BART is extremely low compared to many of the posters on here. I take BART, and I dislike BART, but I can't tell anyone how the Transbay Tube is configured or the history of T/O uniforms or why BART can't get the Translink thing together.
I have a house in downtown
I have a house in downtown Berkeley ( near Dwight and Sac. ) a over mile from underground BART tracks and I can hear the trains just fine...
Call me crazy, but
Call me crazy, but Dwight/Sacramento looks like it's about 3/4 of a mile from the BART tracks at both Sacramento and Hearst, and 3/4 mile from the BART tracks at Shattuck and Dwight.
I'm about a block away from the underground tracks (Durant/Fulton) and I hear the trains on a clear night every week or so. Then again, I also hear the train horns from the Amtrak station with about the same volume and frequency, and they're further away by about a factor of ten.
Maybe you have more sensitive hearing, or you keep the windows open more often?
Yea a keep my windows open a
Yea a keep my windows open a bit (the rear of my house has quite a bit of privacy).
as for the distance, next time I drive ( or power up my GPS) I'll take a exact measurement.
As for Amtrak, yea they are *LOUD* with the horns but until there are gates and blockades on every road the crosses the tracks it will continue ( something Berkeley is working on ).
I've been lurking here for
I've been lurking here for quite some time. I came across this place when I was looking for info on the BART.
I live in Sacramento, but my job takes me into the city on occasion. In my opinion, if I don't have a lot of cargo with me, the BART is the best way to get to the city. I'd rather stand on the BART than sit in bumper-bumber traffic. Of course, I don't need to tell you that the traffic is the dog's bollocks during the afternoon commute. But no matter how packed the trains are, at least they're moving.
I've never really had a bad experience on the BART (knock on wood) but I do enjoy some of the stories and anecdotes this place has to offer. I'm even getting a big kick out of some of the 'comedy gold' that's been happening on the main page the past few days. ;}
So, here I am, participating.
take care,

Welcome, Mica! I'm glad to
Welcome, Mica!
I'm glad to see that you are enjoying the little production by She Who Shall Not Be Named. But sadly, it will be coming to an end soon, as her posts will start disappearing altogether.
Just wondering, what stations do you usually pass through when coming from Sacramento -> San Francisco? (Do you stay in Oakland, or take Amtrak to a nearby station, or what?)
Have fun, and hope to see you around soon!
Thanks for the welcome. I
Thanks for the welcome.
I usually drive to the North Concord station and take that to Embarcadero as a lot of my clients are in the financial district. Sometimes I'll take the Amtrak to Richmond if I need to be in the city for more than one day.
take care,
mica
