TransLink rollout pushed back... again

Ah, the inevitable. Remember how TransLink was slated to roll out Fall 2007? Then it was January 2008?
Well, now it's (officially) May 2008, but some in Implementation are doubting that it will ever roll out.
Any thoughts or predictions?

Prediction.. Current
Prediction.. Current Translink will fail, just like the translink they brought out in the early 1990's..
I may actually still have one of those translink tickets from when I commuted to SF...
I hope it works though, I really do, demagnetized tickets suck, but getting BART and MTC with other transit agencies to work together is to much to hope for.. Seems like BART doesn't play well with others. Look at their relationships with Contractors, Unions, Vendors, other Transit Agencies, and so on..
Similar to our federal government, on any given topic, would you predict the branches of government working together?
If BART wants to drag its
If BART wants to drag its feet then Translink should move on. If in one year's time translink works for Muni, and in two years time translink works for everyone else BART will clearly look bad and be forced to move forward.

LOL... Discounts? BART? I think not!
BART is lovin' their EZ Rider card, but from what I hear it's not so "EZ" for the passengers. Issues with autoload, not reading properly at the faregates, and readers in the Agent's booth malfunctioning are just a few of the problems.
TransLink doesn't have nearly as many problems, but there are some issues with bus readers being down, but drivers are told to give passengers a courtesy ride in that case.
As for the ferry, where the vast majority of the TransLink users commute, the implementation has been near seamless. Seldom are readers down, and if/when they are the ticket agents can read the card from their on-site offices.
I'm beginning to doubt BART will be able to issue TransLink cards for those reasons...
Courtesy rides (eating losses), the cost of implementation, and on-site diagnoses and remedy just don't seem compatible with the BART sub-culture.

I broke down and got a EZ-Rider card and sorta like it, it took a couple days to activate but it has worked fine ever since.
My only argument is that can't add value to the card except for via a credit card, and the Ad Value amount is $45 a pop!
Other then that is a much much faster then using the old ticket system.

I'm shocked. t'link is also SEVEN YEARS late in Sydney. quelle surprise! can we just have BARTPlus back for AC and force GG into the mix? amazing how fast flash passes are y'know.
I'm still amazed that BART
I'm still amazed that BART managed to harness the power of electricity.
I still look under trains to see if some guy is actually Fred-Flinstoning the trains along the track.

While Riding AC-Transit's Transbay service once a day I am seeing that 55% to 60% of riders using Translink.
note that my sampling is less then random being I am reporting only on TransBay riders and the sample size is 16-24 people (per bus, per day)
