BARTRage.com User Survey I

BARTRage.com User Survey

I created this survey because I'm interested to see who is who on here. Apparently (according to the Admin) we have over 400 registered users on here.

Just curious about the demographics of the users posting on this blog.

Thanks!

Asking people questions.

Write the question on a baseball bat and just hit me in the face with it.

Dude! You're doin' it again!

Dude! You're doin' it again!

Quit making me laugh so hard!

I think I'm scaring the dog. And the kids.

You should have asked who

You should have asked who works for BART.. I know of at least 4 people that lurk that would not fall into those catagories..

Agents and T/O's only represent a small percentage of the employees, and their computers do not have access to the internet, but most of the other computers at BART do.

The reason I chose T/O's and

The reason I chose T/O's and Agents are because (from what gets posted on here) they are the most vocal. I agree that there are personnel categories that I left unrepresented in the survey. That was my mistake. But at the same time, are those "lurkers" registered users?

I really hope that most of the anonymous posters on here finally suck it up and get a user name. You can still hide behind it (just like I do - but most of you know who I am... I just don't put it in writing) and post, but at least it would help weed out some of the trolls and spammers.

In response to the T/O and Agent computers, I am well aware that the Station Control Console doesn't connect to the internet. Well, the outside internet anyways, because technically the Portal is the internet. Do T/O's have functioning PCs in the cab?

One other note - we don't have time or capability to be playing around in the forums on the computers in our cars. I (and I'm sure most others on this site) use home computers to visit this site. Using BART company computers leaves a trail that can be traced internally. When they are able to trace who's visited this site, they are able to figure out who said what. That could lead to termination, judging by much of what is said here.

Have a safe, fun day on BART!

AKA... ___________!

There is no rule telling me

There is no rule telling me I canot go to this site on my home or office computer.. There is no rule against using peoples names or what they do, as long as it's the truth or an opinion.

There is even a public list of names, what their position is and how much they make, floating around the net. I will dig it up and post it sometime.

Someone got peaved last time I posted the radio channels to listen in on the trains and police, bummer, it's public knowledge.

I agree, our frequency and

I agree, our frequency and the train/central talk channel IS public knowledge. If someone wants to know, and they came here to find out, no biggie. I'm not "peeved" that you gave that information out.

I also agree with you that people can post people's names, what they do, and their opinion of that individual, as long as they aren't trying to cause financial harm to that person. Opinions are protected by our constitution, and I'm a big believer in constitutional rights... but people shouldn't abuse those rights.

As for the list you speak of... I've seen it, but have trouble believing it. According to that list, there's a T/O who makes over $110k annually. Kinda hard to believe. I'll look for it and post it here soon and let y'all draw your own conclusions.

One thing that really surprised me about this, was that over a quarter of the users who filled out the survey are BART Police Officers!

I gotta admit, I was kinda expecting more than one station agent and more than 4 train operators. But that was the point of the survey. To figure out just who is posting regularly on this site.

As the John (the Admin) has said before, there are over 400 registered users! I think that everyone should get a registered user name. It would help weed out some of the trolls and troublemakers that post spiteful and hateful posts regularly.

One thing this survey did show, however, is that the vast majority (almost two thirds) of those who access this site are daily BART riders. That says something! I think we, as BART employees, need to really take a look at how we are representing both ourselves and BART as a whole. If we keep bickering amongst ourselves (a la Colleen Mills and Sgt. Dixon) it makes all of us look bad.

I can say, with some certainty, that most BART employees are on here to help and, myself included, occasionally vent... I really do enjoy listening and responding to patron's questions, comments, and feedback.

What I'm trying to say is that I really do like this website. I think it was a great idea and has united (albeit divided a few) BART passengers, employees, and (Jarel...) future BART employees. Hopefully, (I know most people already do this...) this will become a great community where we can listen to each other, respond, and treat each other with respect and dignity.

Whew!

Ok, I'm done.
