Cars broken into @ Concord station?
Ok so how many cars were broken into yesterday @ Concord bart station? I counted 2 as I walked back to my car after work. 2 weeks ago my car was broken into as well.
When I pulled into the bart parking lot this morning there were several piles of broken glass all around the parking lot. It looked like 3 or 4 cars in one rown were broken into there was so much glass.
Bart police should carry around a ticket book and a broom. That way they can sweep up when they are not too busy fighting crime.

Which Concord lot is this?
Which Concord lot is this? I have been barting via Concord for a couple years now, and I have never had my car broken into, nor have I see any broken glass or evidence of any other cars being broken into. Door dings, yes, but that is about it.
BART Police are busier than
BART Police are busier than you think. But I am not going to try and convince you of that, because most people who frequent this site seem to have a bias against members of the Department.
One, as in 1, car was broken into. Not several. Not a whole row. One.
By spreading rumors, you only serve to discredit yourself. As we are not allowed to discuss specifics of the incidents, I can only tell you that the person who broke into was arrested and will likley be convicted.
Ofc. J.M.
Well the economic recession
Well the economic recession has determined many normal people to steal so they can just have something to eat and the car parts like business is booming .
Not to mention, one break-in
Not to mention, one break-in being REPORTED does not mean there was only one break-in.
What part of the lot are the
What part of the lot are the cars being broken into? Just curious. I thought they had cameras in the garage. Horrible thing to come back from a long day's work to your car being broken into because you have to spend more time dealing with the insurance company and having it fixed as well. I wish they would catch these creeps. It is particularly insulting they are doing it at Concord since Concord Police Station is about a block away.
P.S. I'm glad to hear the
P.S. I'm glad to hear the above offender was caught but I've heard from BART P.D. that cars do get broken into at Concord and they even go to North Concord BART to dispose of what they don't want (and probably break into cars there).
I am one of JM´s coworkers.
I am one of JM´s coworkers. I can tell you with some confidence that some cars do get broken into at Concord, and some have been disposed of at North Concord. But from what I know (I am in a different zone than JM, this leads me to believe) more cars are broken into at Concord than North Concord. This isn´t statistics, this is just my personal observation. And as for what part of the cars were broken into... the car in question was a late model sedan, four doors. The side window was popped (the smaller, rear triangular one) and was used to unlock the car. Then the radio was stolen and the golve compartment stripped.
Cameras are useful... but being able to pull the tapes is difficult at best. And if the crime isn´t reported soon after, it becomes even more difficult. But PLEASE always call 911 or 877.679.7000 if you observe ANYTHING that you even think could be suspicious. And encourage others to call in as well, because the general assumption by dispatch is that the more calls recieved equals the larger the problem is. Good luck .
This makes me glad that I
This makes me glad that I pay the extra money for the reserved lot. I know that there is no special protection or security, but I would think that a prospective theif would rather go after cars in a more isolated part of the lot than right next to the station entrance.
Ok I am the original poster
Ok I am the original poster of this thread. To the officer who says it was only one car you are wrong. Its probably only one person that actually took the time to report it. Someone else posted that it was a late-model 4-door sedan. I know for a fact there was another car that was broken into (how do I know? Because I was parked right next to it. Once I saw it I went over to inspect the damage. I didn't worry about bart police suspecting me as the thief because they are never around) and it is not a 4-door sedan. All you have to do is look at the piles of broken glass...they are at more than one parking space. Or is someone leaving piles of glass at different parking spaces for fun?
Most people know that reporting something like this to bart police is a waste of time and energy. You just kind of shrug it off and say to yourself, "well, there goes another $150 for a new window". Then you move on with life.
Its definately more than one vehicle and this is not an isolated incident. I agree spreading mis-information is bad but so is turning a blind eye to a serious problem which leads people to believe their property is safe and it is not!
If you don't report the
If you don't report the crime, how are BART Police going to show the stats to their Sgts and Lts? How are they going to be able to justify increasing patrols and hiring more officers? With BART, it's always all about the numbers folks. The squeeky wheel gets the grease right? So....SQUEEK.
A lot of people who file a police report only do so because their insurance company requires it before paying off on a loss. Others don't want to wait around for BPD to show up to take a report, so they eat the loss, pay for the new window out of pocket and then complain there isn't enough police patrol. If you don't want to hang around waiting, call when you get home, but at least file a report so there is documentation that these auto burlaries are happening.
BART management will not take an employee's word for anything. They have to see the hard copies and the numbers. The more paying riders complain, and the louder they complain, the more likely BART management will finally admit there really is a problem. Like I said.....SQUEEK - SQUEEK LOUDLY and OFTEN.
I still see that nobody has
I still see that nobody has said which part of the Concord parking lot this has happened at. I am going to assume that this is one of those isolated lots behind the police station or maybe in the corner next to the bank building unless somebody corrects me.
I believe most of the
I believe most of the breakins happen near the crack house on the corner of oakland ave and mt diablo st.
I know this is an ancient
I know this is an ancient post but I was leaving Concord BART a couple of a weeks ago and there must have been 50 dudes in front of that crack house standing in the street. It was scarey to see that at 1:15 a.m. I've seen women get off the train at BART at 1:15 a.m. and go over to that same house and knock on the bedroom window. At first, I thought she was breaking in and then I could see she was there to score. Unfortunately, these creeps come and hang out over at BART too. This is Concord Police's jurisdiction, not BART's.
I don't agree with the Officer above. I think MANY,MANY MORE CARS are broken into at NORTH CONCORD than CONCORD and no one reports it.
However, in the last couple of weeks, I've seen broken glass from multiple vehicles in the Concord mid-day lots. The garage seems pretty safe. At North Concord, my Acura was broken into five times and my truck once. There is NO SAFE PLACE TO PARK at NORTH CONCORD. Plus there are perverts in NC's far lot all day long and then creeps at night so I'm happy I've moved to Concord BART. Windows are $1,200.00 not $150.00 and if you want the job done right and a decent window, you have to pay for it out-of-pocket and go buy the dam window yourself from the factory. Insurance is basically worthless any more except to get your registration renewed. I would never let anybody they recommend touch my vehicle.
Yeah I always report when my
Yeah I always report when my car gets broken into by crackheads even though the police in the bay area are too fucking incompetent to actually every even TRY to catch the people responsible just so that the break in will show up on crime maps.
It pisses me off that the police here are so fucking useless that people just stop reporting crimes, which makes neighborhoods seem safer than they really are since people just don't bother reporting.
