What happened last night at Coliseum BART? There were police everywhere, someones shoes, bloody clothes, a damaged car, markers all over the ground in a cordoned off area at the back of the station parking lot area. No news about it in newspaper or TV. As a commuter everyday on BART, it's a matter if time before these criminals kills one of us. Hence the name, Schleprock. |

What's more, is that to wish ill on someone else "Maybe it will happen to YOU" ....hmmmm...maybe it will happen to me...but really, get over yourself.
My suggestion to stop riding BART? Its valid, is it not? What else would you like to have happen? Someone to hold your hand on your train ride?

BART does a stellar job of
BART does a stellar job of covering things up! Spokespoodle Linton Johnson will only issue a statment if asked by the media, and doesn't issue press relases if he dosn't need to.
Next time this shit happens, make some phone calls: KRON4's TipLine, KTVU's Breaking News Hotline, and the CBS5 NewsLine.
That way, you can ensure that BART will get the pres coverage it deserves.

Dear M. Delgado, thanks for the reply. I just found a "blurb" about it in the SF Chronicle today (Jan. 18th) on B2, bottom left corner. So, it does sound possibly random and unusual. The person was just sitting in their van possibly waiting to pick someone up and the "assailant" was on foot and ran off without any witnesses. Go figure! You can see plently from that platform.

So you expect someone at bart to notify the news of a shooting? That's the medias job, not Barts. I say blame the media, they no doubt knew there was a shooting in the area but didn't care enough to show up to the scene. Yes had it happened anywhere else on Bart they sure would have been there. Nobody covered up anything but the shell casings.

Why does the media need to report on this? Who cares? FoxNews reporting an incident does not change the fact that it happened, nor will it make people change their behavior.
The media didn't report it
The media didn't report it because the guy didn't die. The only shootings in Oakland that get reported are ones where someone dies or if they occur where a lot of white people are. For example, if a person at the Rockridge BART Station was shot, the media would be all over it. Nobody in the City of Oakland, BART, or in the media is much interested in a Coliseum Station shooting.

I should have said no one cares about a black person getting shot blah, blah, blah...A white person getting shot anywhere is big news. White people aren't supposed to get shot. Black people are.
