Poop on Stairs at Embarcadero This Morning
I have seen and smelled urine and feces at BART almost every day for 8 years commuting from the East Bay to Embarcadero. Typically, during rush hours, staff keeps trains, stations, reasonably clean (although almost everyone I know "disinfects" after every ride. This morning though I and many other riders got an unwelcomed Friday surprise to put it mildly. I exited the end car at Embarcadero around 830am and began my daily routine of walking up the 7 mini-flights of stairs leading to the gates in front of 333 Market. The stench of feces blasted my sinuses from the very first step. I figured it was just some homeless guy curled up in a corner, or at worse, a plainly visible lump of poop that could be just stepped over. But NO. Poop was smeared over every step so bad that people were sliding in the mess. It was smeared on every step! Since people usually don't pay that much attention when climbling those steps after their sleepy long train ride, there was a combination of gasps and screams as one by one, their shoe soles made a fossilized imprint on the soft mudlike brown substance knowing the substance would harden to their shoes faster than crazy glue. Whoever did this must have a poor fiber diet. I did not see any visible signs of solid mass even though poop is about 95% water. I wonder where the guy started pooping. I wish he hadn't tried to hold it, and just pooped in the train. At least riders could have had a fair warning that it was coming. Sort of like your baby is ready to poop, and you hold your nose and breath like theres no tomorrow. Anyway, it smells really bad in our office. Some have removed their shoes and are walking in socks now. Imagine a $500 pair of Gucci's ruined by poop. White vinegar works great. But how will I get home without getting laughed at cause I didn't wear socks today? It is 5 hours A.D. and BART has not cleaned it up yet! They should at least warn people even if the crap is completely dry. Haven't they heard about Hepatitus B? HOLY CRAP! PUN INTENDED. NOT EVEN A MINI MENTION ON BART.GOV.

I think they should make BART
I think they should make BART MANAGEMENT ACTUALLY RIDE AND WALK THE SYSTEM THEY MANAGE. Poor scrub crew for having to clean that crap up. It is just wrong BART doesn't clean that crap up right away. Not only is it a health hazard but it is just mean to do to the scrub crew because it creates such an additional mess with everyone walking through it.
Seriously you think they
Seriously you think they would put that on the website?..
That's super, super nasty.
That's super, super nasty. That being said.
I laughed (more than) a little bit thinking about a bunch of men and women in $500 suits walking around in their socks at the law firm all day because every last one of them smelled like hobo shit.

This is more a San Francisco
This is more a San Francisco problem than a BART problem. Despite the availability of free toilets nearby, the crackheads and drunks are too lazy or too wasted to walk to them. It's San Francisco's policy of tolerance that allows the types of people that do this to thrive here.
I wonder if they drunks and
I wonder if they drunks and crackheads even know those toilets are there to walk to? Maybe they ought to post a few signs within and around the BART station letting people know that. I've had friends that don't go to the City for events any more because they couldn't find facilities to use because BART's were closed. Is BART ever going to open up their SF and underground restrooms again? I see so many guys using the escalator wall right out in front of Fidelity at Montgomery Street Station that I think you should put the sign right on that friggin wall!
What toilets? Do you mean
What toilets? Do you mean those weird automatic ones that never work or are always occupied?
Only in San Francisco are you
Only in San Francisco are you fined if you don't clean up after your dog, but if YOU want to shit on the street have at it!
