Delay Because of Police Investigation of Man on Tracks Between Concord and North Concord BART Stations

Does anyone know if there was really a man on the BART tracks last night about 5:30 p.m.? Service was terminating at Concord last night and passengers were told to go take the regular bus service out to Pittsburg-Bay Point which I didn't know even existed from Concord BART.

It was never announced whether police caught the man or what the outcome was. Finally, a train was allowed to head back to Daly City from Concord. Don't know what happened to trains trying to get to Concord from North Concord.

It is a shame that one idiot like that can really disrupt service. BART should have electric fences so these guys can't climb on to the tracks.

They should have guard

They should have guard towers every 1/2 mile too.

How is that practical? BART

How is that practical? BART has over 100 miles of track so by your proposition, BART would have to hire another 50 officers and pay 50 additional employees to watch the tracks for something that doesn't happen very often. In addition to those 50 officers watching the tracks, there still needs to be officers to patrol the stations. Are you willing to foot the very expensive bill to pay for all that?

Why can't they put "cattle

Why can't they put "cattle guards" on the front of BART trains like they used to have on locomotives in the steam train days. If you are a looney and get stuck on the tracks, then you get spattered or thrown clear without damage to the train. Hey, if you post a sign that says: Danger - No Trespassing - High Voltatge, and then people run around, they are asking for trouble....

I'm with you; run over the

I'm with you; run over the idiots and splatter them all over the track; that way they won't do it again. They obviously don't care about living if they are there in the first place.

The guy was just kidding

The guy was just kidding about the towers...Man are you people gullible!!

Why is it BART doesn't post

Why is it BART doesn't post "News worthy" items on their website of Bart.gov ? Everyone knows about taking Bart to the various airports in the Bay area and other miscellaneous information that no one really cares about because we already know about them and don't really care. What we regular commuters care about is - tell us something about a delay that happened (reason and solution). Like for instance the major delay on 11/03 about the "nutjob" on the tracks. That caused havoc to so many people. Yet, not a peep out of Bart on what really happened and what the solution was.
How about Bart putting more signs on the roads directing people to Bart Stations. Let me tell you it is not easy to get to the Concord Bart station. Thank you.

Well, let's see, because,

Well, let's see, because, for starters, BART doesn't have a clue and obviously doesn't care.

Probably costs money to have

Probably costs money to have someone on staff that can update the webpage.

You can donate if you wish, but news people on staff should report anything newsworthy.

I also don't see many companies eager to report on a running blog when things are going wrong.

I was on my Blackberry

I was on my Blackberry taking the train home this evening and I went to the site on my mobile and saw an ADVISORIES link and followed it for BART advisories. Obviously it said nothing, but it is in beta, FWIW. I also see the 'Widgets' link on the website under News that says it provides advisories. Again, not sure if the information provided will do us riders anything worthwhile or not, but it looks like BART is trying...

You can blame the employess

You can blame the employess @ safeway for this one. Said a guy was throwing stuff down from the ariel trackway. Nobody was ever seen by Bart or Bart PD. It was a mess for everyone.
