I was on the train the malfunctioned. We were sitting there at BayFair and next thing you know they announced that everyone must board off the train due to malfuctions.
We thought the train would just leave but it was just sitting there. Soon, I noticed they were Single Tracking all trains going through BayFair.
I was pissed because it made me late but what can you do. The only issue I had were the idiots who force themselves into a full train. The Train operator kept announcing that there is a train 4-5 minutes behind. Still the idiots were partly in the train so he could not close the doors. This added to more delays.

Here's what happened. A train between Castro Valley and Bayfair struck "something". This something sheared off the third rail collector shoes on a couple of cars. No collector shoes means no third rail power to those cars rendering them "dead". Then of course the next train through does the same exact thing. It really messed up the morning commute and took hours to recover from.
