HUGE trucks/SUVs in the BART parking garage
I find it unbelievable that people are still buying HUGE trucks and SUVs. And probably bitching continually about high gas prices... I see these vehicles with paper 'new car' plates and it fries me. I once heard that 'alpha male' owners of these behemoths buy them to compensate for their own tiny peepees.
Today I had to dodge a Ford F350 mega-truck on the 3rd floor of the Fruitvale BART parking garage, space 516. Texas plates (Doh! Moron!) The thing was literally jutting out 3 feet beyond the length of the space. Why don't BART police ticket such nuisances? I suppose they are (and we should be) grateful that the owner at least takes BART for a portion of his daily commute.

riding a motorcycle in AM (and PM) rush means no tolls, less in fuel than the value of the BART ride, and perhaps free parking, if it can be found.

There are plenty of folks that work construction jobs that ride BART, and this outhanging texan may just be one of them. at least that person is riding BART and trying to spare the air. i agree, most people who drive trucks work in construction or some trade that requires them to have a truck. nevertheless, the thieves tend not to screw with the trucks as much as BART as the smaller cars so after having my car vandalized and broken into several times plus being ran off the road by SUVs going to and from BART, i decided to buy my own dam truck and join them. however, i'm careful and mindful in the way i park.

You missed the whole point (and every one of your generalizations was dead wrong...as well as laughable). The truck blocks half the traffic lane because it can't begin to fit into a normal-sized parking space. It should be towed away. There are plenty of vehicles that would fit. Even some SUVs...

Well, the teenie weenies really do show up to defend their SUVs, don't they? Most of the people that I know of who own SUVs do not work in construction. They don't drive offroad, and they are not outdoors folks. They bought one because everyone has one. It's the American way. SUVs are the new station wagon except lots of folks who own them are childless and don't haul anything except their own self absorbed backside.
SUVs confirm American's status as greedy, selfish, pigs who think the world's resources are there for their exclusive use and that we should use any means necessary to insure there will always be enough gas to fuel guzzling SUVs, luxury cars, and Hummers. Oink, oink.
