Robbery ON THE TRAIN at MacArthur Last NIght -- Hold on to your Laptops and Belongings

Of course no BPD on the train so the passengers went running after the robber. They had to shut down the power and it caused a delay in getting home because supposedly the robber went running onto the tracks. The guy behind me had such BAD BREATH I had to move; at least by MacArthur there was a seat to move to because BART insists on running five-car trains past 11:30 p.m.. When will BART get it and put officers on the trains? At least there should be an officer at MacArthur at midnight EVERY NIGHT. This crime would not have happened if there was police presence. Some passengers thought they heard shots fired; others thought it was a car back firing on the freeway. Why does the T.O. have to get off the train and investigate because there is no police around. Shabby.

And BART IS NOT a quiet transit either and they have some nerve emailing everyone and posting articles saying they are. BART bought that SECOND track grinder at least four years ago for $17 million dollars and nothing has been done to fix the noise in the tunnels yet. I only see the track grinders just sitting around; have never seen one in use. Both the Orinda and Trans-Bay tubes are horribly noisy.

i'm sick of all the BART b.s. BART's management ought ride the trains sometime and then they might see that how full of it they are.

At least last weekend's commute was nice; long trains. My company is getting busy again so I was glad to be able to work some OT with a nice weekend commute.

and, last but not least AGAIN, FUCK FIVE CAR TRAINS AT MIDNIGHT. PERIOD!

.

I can't believe the Chronicle

I can't believe the Chronicle (or comical) has the gaul to publish an article saying BART is the quietest rail system in America. Sure, that sounds great that BART is the quietest rail system in America but our rail system in this country is so abysmal we're just one notch above India's which is still stuck in the British colonial period. I didn't realize how bad the noise was until I was riding BART with a group of friends a few weeks ago (I usually ride BART alone). We had to stop talking once the train dove into the tunnel by Balboa Park. Even then its really loud when your on the elevated trackway between Balboa Park and Daly City.

Amen! That's sort of like

Amen! That's sort of like bragging that you've got the nicest shack in your neighborhood....

The level of flat-out bias and distorted reporting in the Comical has gone beyond maddening to simply depressing.

Come to think of it, excuse me for a moment while I go switch my daily local news bookmark from sfgate.com to sjmercury.com right now....(The Merc may not be any better, but it certainly can't be any worse!)

A left-wing fishwrap will always praise anything when there is a union involved.

Who could they possibly be

Who could they possibly be comparing themselves with? And with what measure? Just because they do basic rail maintenance doesn't mean it works.

I am sure if you want

I am sure if you want officers on all trains then you won't mind the fare increase.

Not that part, the other part

Not that part, the other part about the noise. It's stupid to think there's enough money to put an officer on every train.

No, I would happily pay for a

No, I would happily pay for a fare increase for more BART Police, my Train Operators, CLEANER/LONGER trains and restored evening service. BART manages its money MOST POORLY though so they will waste it and not spend it where it should be spent. If they had police on the train New Year's Eve, Oscar Grant never would have happened. At the very least, BPD should be on the trains during holidays, Giants games, concerts and other similar events and at MacArthur during late hours.

The Station Agents are useless and only get off on confusing newbie passengers trying to figure out the BART system (at least at Montgomery) so I don't vote for giving them part of my fare increase. Station agents make it as HARD as they can for tourists and other patrons not familiar with getting around on BART and relish every minute of it; unbelievable. They should be replaced by Kiosks since they refuse to get off their cell phones and arses and be helpful. I see people jump over the gates entering and exiting the system right in front of Montgomery Station Agent window and they do absolutely nothing so why should they even be there? Kind of like we used to go over those things in PE when I was in high school. They aren't doing their job.

Wondering why at Concord, BART has new schedules for every line BUT the Pittsburg/Bay Point Line? Why is BART wasting all that paper anyway, can't people just wait for the new schedule booklet which BART should have completed and distributed simultaneously with the schedule change announcement? This isn't BART's first schedule change. Maybe in 35 more years, they'll get that down.

I agree completely. Video

I agree completely.

Video kiosks with instructions in multiple languages would be infinitely more helpful than the Station Agents.

They are some of the most useless public employees I have ever seen.

It would be different if they were in charge of enforcing fare evasion or even doing light janitorial work to keep the station clean, but they just sit on their butts and look at the internet on their smart phones or read the newspaper instead of actually doing anything. Half of the time when I see them all the agents in a station are crowded into one booth talking to each other and ignoring the patrons completely, or chatting with janitors and keeping them from doing their jobs.
