And, what's your point?

And, what's your point?

Oh boy now I can experience

Oh boy now I can experience rude BART employees, annoying passengers, and substandard service in an even more crowded and uncomfortable environment! HOORAY!

The point, which really does

The point, which really does not need to made is the Bay Area needs BART. Sure many riders have complaints that are sound fundamentally and others that are ridiculous. Every train available has been running to keep patrons (hopefully) moving to their destination. But that number is really pushing the limits as to the capacity of the system. Not sure I would like to see the bridge out of service much longer to be honest.

I agree, but I really wish

I agree, but I really wish BART could have made a better impression during this whole thing. I am one of the lucky ones who can telecommute when this sort of thing happens, but from what I've heard it's been a complete madhouse. I don't think many of those "new riders" are going to stick around after this week. BART should have increased their capacity a long LONG time ago, even if it were just to have more cars on hand to make longer trains in case of emergency. I'm sure having more rotation of the cars out on the line would not be a bad thing.

Not sure what everyone is

Not sure what everyone is freaking out about. I've ridden BART every day this week during, as Linton calls it, "the peak of the peak" commute and barely noticed a difference. If you rode into or out of the city, you probably had to stand in a crowd, but that is normal for BART. Much less frustration than when a train goes out of service during the commute when people are stuck on platforms, etc. The only thing I noticed that made me realize there were lots of new riders in the system were all of the people standing on the left side of escalators and people pushing to get on cars before people had exited. BART can easily handle these loads plus much more.

Agreed. Things were fairly

Agreed. Things were fairly crowded yesterday but I think a lot of people just took today off.
Bayfair parking lot was extra light this AM, even for a Friday.

Sure BART can handle it but

Sure BART can handle it but it is just a reminder of how much it sucks to spend $7 a day to stand for 45 minutes in a nasty, smelly, crowded train and deal with nasty, smelly, crowded stations.

the fare would be less but

the fare would be less but the bay bridge breaks and more people ride bart.

nobody figured the the bridge would break, and the computers aren't programed to lower the fare. it's a bad economy

combined with an old bridge we voted to replace with a permanent fix.
