The commute's gonna be SO FUN until whenever. Most importantly, though, no one was seriously hurt.

longer trains, good. not

longer trains, good. not open over night, bad.

I agree, the BART management

I agree, the BART management is all about the money for their fiefdoms and not about service during this emergency.?

I would think if the

I would think if the determination is made by CalTrans the bridge will be closed for a period of time for repairs, then BART will end up running trains 24 hours. Much like they did when the brdige was closed over Labor Day. As for longer trains, not during commute, sorry. Trains are already built up to their required number of cars. I would think you will see long trains all day long, but there won't be extra trains, no cars available for that. I could also see BART the morning/afternoon commute trains running in loops if the gate count demands it.

Hey, it's a win for BART.

Hey, it's a win for BART. They can run trains 24-7 and then use the overtime against employees in the negotiations four years from now!

LOL, sad but nothing could be

LOL, sad but nothing could be truer. If the bridge is closed for halloween, will they be running 24 hour trains that night?

They ought to be running them

They ought to be running them anyway.
BART should be there to prevent drunk driving but instead they shut down too early every night.

Pathetic.

@ Return, As MANY others

@ Return, As MANY others have posted, rush hour trains which used to be 10 have become 9 and others trimmed the same.
'course they were planning to buy 28 more for the lame SFO extension, but as the money was burning too fast, they pretended better maintenance would give greater MDBF and the current fleet would do. So much for Enron accounting.
Bottom line, there USED to be enough cars for longer trains w/ current schedules, so why am I supposed to believe there no longer are?

Sorry but I don't know what

Sorry but I don't know what happened to the purchase of 28 cars. Maybe I have not been around long enough to hear that "lie" when it comes to longer trains. All I know is how long trains are supposed to be on a daily basis. I am sure over the years cars have been lost to collisions and other incidents that make it wiser to take the car out of service than spend the money to repair it. So I can't tell you why every train is not 10 cars. I agree that trains from PBP to SFO should all be 10 cars. I don't think the demand is there for two lines service coming out of Richmond. Dublin probably has a good argument for trains longer than 8, but again there is two line from Bay Fair to Daly City. I don't do the bean counting so I don't know the why, how and what of your basic question.
