BART Cars Begin Showing Updated Route Map
The car I was on this evening, 1843, had a new sticker on the route map, showing the updated route effective 9/14/09. I walked to a few other cars, but none of them had this updated sticker yet.
Maybe I completely missed it (quite possible), but I haven't seen much/any press on these schedule changes.
The effective changes:
- Elimination of the weekend/evening service on the Dublin/Pleasanton line beyond Daly City
- On weekends and evenings (i.e., when Richmond trains stop at Daly City), Pittsburg/Bay Point line would route San Bruno -> SFO -> Millbrae
Effectively, they've dropped the Dublin/Pleasnaton weekend/evening service to Millbrae and are just routing the Pittsburg/Bay Point train past SFO to Millbrae.
BART's online route planner seems to have updated to reflect this route change (Dublin-Pleasanton timetable shows service to Millbrae on 9/7, but service only to Daly City on 9/14). I don't have the time to go through and pick out the specific timetable changes, but hopefully that will come out soon.
I'm curious if anyone else has seen these new decals or whether there's been any press on this route change.

I just saw the new map panel
I just saw the new map panel stickers in the office a few minutes ago, I'll get a pic and post it ot the flickr stream later tonight.
good for you thanks. the
good for you thanks.
the flickr stream sucks bad.
it needs more activity.
The flickr stream was
The flickr stream was basically put up so if people wanted to post photos along with their entries/comments they could, since this site is extremely limited as to file storage. It's annoying to have to bring your own storage to message boards, as it clutters up personal accounts or forces you to open up distinct accounts for distinct internet activites.
As a bonus, there have actually been people from the greater Flickr community that have nothing to do with the boards who have posted some pretty great pictures.
Feel free to post whatever you want. It doesn't have to even be mentioned on here. Heck, make use of the comments if you want but I don't read them except once a month or so when I check through the stream. I prefer to converse here.
The only thing is if it's not BART related or extremely offensive it may get pulled. I don't think I've ever had to do that though, and I'd rather not have to. I'm a fan of uncensored speech.
Paying more for less service
Paying more for less service is *awesome*.
Good thing BART raised fares!
Some of it is redundant
Some of it is redundant service that is not needed. No reason to run trains (short or long) if the ridership isn't there. It makes real good sense for traffic south of Daly City since that portion of the system is so under used now with two line service during the week. Of course there is a bit of a longer wait time from 15 minutes to 20 minutes (I'm guessing this is what is happening with the new schedule).
even better is racking up
even better is racking up more miles/hours on cars assigned to long PBP-SFO trains which are only full between Balboa and Macarthur.
HARDLY! Do you ride the
HARDLY! Do you ride the PBP-SFO line? Many days its crowded all the way to Walnut Creek...then you get a little bit of relief after Pleasant Hill....
