BART running slower today; dimming lights
According to SFGate.com:
(07-24) 13:32 PDT OAKLAND -- The statewide electrical emergency has led BART to run trains at slower speeds and dim the lights inside stations today.
"PG&E asked us if we could reduce our power," BART spokesman Linton Johnson said. "So trains are now running at 60 mph instead of 80, and all 43 stations have the lights dimmed.
"You will notice it is a little dimmer, but not low enough to compromise security," Johnson said.
He said the slowdown would save between 5 and 7 megawatts, which is enough to power 5,000 to 7,000 homes.
The speed and lighting reductions will last until at least 8 p.m. and may cause minor delays, Johnson said.

Delays - Well at least no
Delays - Well at least no free rides today so we don't have to put up with kids, teenagers and other people who don't know how to act on BART. With the delays on Friday and the "Spare the Air Day" non-commuters it was the worst day on BART this year! Anymore Spare the Air's should only be at commute times and one way in the morning.
For those of us who will be
For those of us who will be heading home in the next couple of hours, any comments updating on how long the delays *really* are -- or how the overcrowding situation is (slower trains necessitate fewer trains) -- would be much appreciated!!

I hear what your saying but,
