Thanks for the "attitude"
So it was rush hour time. I got on the 1st train and it was nicely packed as usual so I stood near the front of the train. As more and more people filled the train I had to move closer to the train operator door.
Well the train operator decided that she would enforce the "please keep clear of the doors" rule and asked me to move with a very rude tone and just stared me down. I asked nicely her where do you want me to go? People were shoulder to shoulder and it was impossilbe to even move. I guess I could have stood on someone or sit on someones lap. She just kept insisting that I move and kept pointing at the sign. I took less then one step and had to force the person in front of me to move.
Normally I wouldn't mind and I respect that they need to open the door, but c'mon! I've seen that door open both ways (in and out) and besides if I moved out of the way you'd still have 3-4 people right in front! If she didn't have to "extend" her attitude maybe I wouldn't have mind.
Through the many years I have been riding BART service has declined.
I used to take BART often now I just drive. On ocassions when I do take it I either run into the problems of delayed trains, rude employees, short trains, or some other mechanical or system issue.

as for rude employees... well dealing with people like yourself for 8 to 10 hours a day, well sometimes you have to be rude to get your point across... you go to safeway or your bank and act like that... grow up rules are put out there for your safety... people like yourself who make there own rules, which generally creates more problems...follow the rules not that hard.. and do me a favor grow up... '
if trains to short not clean complain call 510-464-6000...
What are you talking
What are you talking about...one word...second word...third word...four word? What do you mean by "dealing with people like yourself". Do you know this person? Did you grow up with this person? Did you try to play house with them and they wouldn't let you bring your little Suzy doll?
NO, my friend, you don't need to be rude to get your point across. You can be firm and polite at the same time.
Now do us a favor, when you are not operating the train, or whatever it is you do, get an education and/or take a writing class, mmm-k? Thanks!
P.S. What are the "grow up rules?"
wow idportu i bet your bus
wow idportu i bet your bus pass comes in handy, since you probably ran stops signs, illegal lane changes, broke the speed limit, got your license taken away, anything i missed....
you must deal with 4-10,000 people a day and i bet you dont get tired of repeating yourself over and over in you 4x4 cell. What the person above you is saying follow the simple instructions that a 5th grader can follow, which are posted on trains or given to you by a BART employee and no one has to get rude...
ps idportu ........ what up with you and dolls it is tea time, are you in second grade?
Yep...you figured me out!
Yep...you figured me out! MAN, do I feel stupid! Yes, my friend, I DO deal with 4-10,000 people a day, and I am constantly repeating myself, but you know something... that's what I get PAID TO DO! REMEMBER THAT! Want some cheese with your whine?
P.s. Anonymous....Yes, I am in second grade, two grades above you!

wow did i touch a nerve or your doll.... the little boy who plays with dolls, wow actually i heard you were serving cheese and wine at your doll party or was that a tea party... And congrats on your excellent performance i guess playing with dolls is realaxing... i bet your never got rude, never in your career.. i put my money that you are a bart employee who is way overpaid.. the boys in new york make less and do a much better job.....why dont you hold a class on proper cheese and wine serving.. i bring my five year daughter and you two can play house...
Neither. Nobody touches my
Neither. Nobody touches my doll but me. I just enjoy posting to get reactions. It would take something much more than you to get to me. If I'm not mistaken, it sounds as though I may have "touched a nerve" with you, as you continue to attempt to hurtle insults at me. Anyway, please let me know where I can pick up your money, as I am not a BART employee, or you could just give it to your daughter when you drop her off to play house.
P.s. I'll see you at the cheese and wine classes. Don't be late!
there is no other job in the
there is no other job in the bay that deals with 4-10k people a day but bart... so stop lying see you at the cheese and wine tasting you be in the pink shirt
Fine...I'll be in the pink
Fine...I'll be in the pink shirt if you'll be in the blue skirt...
You know what anonymous?
You know what anonymous? Grow the eff up. I sure hope you're not a BART employee because if you are you're exactly what is wrong with the system. In all my years as a Train Operator, I never once asked a passenger that was squished up against my door to please move. Use your head. Where would you like them to go? If there is an emergency or you need to leave the cab, knock on the door and I am pretty sure they will move out of the way to let you out. If BART employees could be fired for being rude (I wish), we'd lose more than half of our workers. Sad but true.
Wow. Finally. A post from a
Wow. Finally. A post from a BART employee that is well-written, realistic and free from all the arrogance and hostility that seems to dominate this forum. Nice to know you're out there!
If Anonymous is a BART
If Anonymous is a BART employee, how many of you now feel safer knowing that they driver of the 9 car train during your commute can't even spell safety?
one word.... SAFTEY
second word.... SAFTEY
the ferry option is looking better everyday...
Really, the only way to deal
Really, the only way to deal with a power-tripping BART employee is to extend your middle finger in its direction and then ignore it. 99.99 percent of the time it'll find someone else to bully. The rare chance they do call BART police, all you have to do is act surprised and say you never heard/saw the employee and honest, you would have moved if you were aware they had asked. This also has the benefit of undermining the credibility of the public transit rent-collector who made the call.
The rare chance they do call
The rare chance they do call BART Police, they are usually prepared to press charges. Since it is pointless for them to call the police without filing a report.
Just don't block the door. They are told to keep the door area clear for emergencies. Why make someones job tougher than it is?
And do you really think the employees are looking to "find someone else to bully" ?
If someone has a bad attitude day after day, complain. Just say thanks to people that are helpful.
ROFL. Press charges for
ROFL. Press charges for blocking the door on a crowded train? My god, wouldn't the media have a field day with that. All the problems BART has and they toss a commuter in jail. I'd look forward to it. The media relations department would have to go on disability en masse from injuries sustained during the severe backpedaling.
Not jail, simple fine.. Fare
Not jail, simple fine.. Fare Evasion, Eat/Drink/Smoke, Creating a disturbance, and so on are just infractions. They may even make you late for work.
The police just write you the ticket and off you go. They say to take it to court if you have a problem with it. Do you think you are going to get some big uproar in the public over a $250 fine for being a nuisance blocking an exit?
Oh, please. You won't even
Oh, please. You won't even get that unless you're a complete idiot and refuse to move when the police tell you to, and that's IF you actually encounter BART's finest (and ain't that a damn rarity these days). As for pressing charges, it's amazing how mute most BART employees become when they realize one passenger can cheerfully make their lives an administrative hell for years to come with complaints spaced just so.
actually a good point --
actually a good point -- retaliation is a reality
this is one reason why it's just not worth the confrontation, it can stick on you for the rest of your caereer
Get off the train then, is
Get off the train then, is my opinion. If there is no room, GET OFF. Wait for a train where you will fit.
