Possum ina a switch?
I saw a report that the delay between PHill and Concord was a possum with bad timing.. He got smashed in a switch then the motor burned out. LOL.

(03-03) 12:29 PST PLEASANT HILL --
BART service between Concord and Pleasant Hill was interrupted for more than an hour today because an opossum got stuck in a track switch, officials said.
Service was restored shortly after noon, but there are residual delays of up to 20 minutes for passengers traveling to San Francisco from the East Bay, said BART spokesman Jim Allison.
The problems began at 11 a.m. when the opossum became lodged in the switch between Concord and Pleasant Hill. The switch kept trying to work, but with opossum jammed in it, the device's motor burned out, Allison said.
Crews replaced the motor. The opossum is dead.

Haha, I love the last sentence: "The opossum is dead". That's the important news right there.
I've heard stories about how difficult it is to kill a possum, I would not want to have to clean up after that mess.

OK, here we go. The animal
OK, here we go. The animal rights activists are going to converge on Pleasant Hill station and shut it down. There will be riots and looting because of crappy BART management not stopping this insidious crime. BART PD is so incompetent that they could not stop this atrocity.
Oh, here comes John Burris. He is suing BART for 35 million in the wrongful death of the opossum.
Please stop the madness. Boycott BART now!

BART needs to be shutdown till ALL the switches are replaced with ones that are deemed " possum safe ".
Also perhaps Jo-JO can be retrained to assist as a possum crossing guard.
This couldn't 'possumly'
This couldn't 'possumly' happen. Those track switches are so powerful (to maintain alignment) it would have mashed the possum without hurting the switch. This morning there was a dead wild turkey near the possum death scene. Might have been a turkey vulture. (Overheard on a portable radio carried by a tech).
