FUCK BART; IT'S TIME TO CONTACT OSHA ABOUT THESE CROWDED UNSAFE TRAIINS

TONIGHT WAS GAWD AWFUL. Nothing like that mowed over feeling . You can't move and people just continue to push you and walk through you and you have no control over your place on the floor. No air to breath. Unbelievably packed, hot five-car train which was supposed to have left Montgomery at 11:09. Worthless T.O. as far as asking the crowd to move back but I guess there was nowhere to move. But she was absolutely no help to this bad situation. BART'S Management needs to go. Whomever coordinates the length of the trains on Friday evenings, particularly when there are events, is a COMPLETE and UTTER MORON and I HATE YOUR GUTS.

These trains are not safe as it is and it isn't safe to pack them like sardines either. This is different than standing room only; this is unbelievably packed. No one will wait for the next fucking short train because this one was already late.

Going to find out who BART's frigging federal watch dog is too and tell them the same thing. BART is cutting too many corners, spends its money UNWISELY and needs to step it up by cleaning house.

I almost ripped down every fucdking "thank you for riding BART" poster I saw tonight. It would have given me great pleasure to rip those stupid posters up into tiny little pieces and throw them all over the floor; They are so poorly designed you can't even read them unless you are standing right in front of them which is stupid, like most of the rest of BART's posters.

BART SUCKS BEYOND BELIEF LATELY. GET RID OF YOUR CLUELESS MANAGEMENT; GET SOME PEOPLE WHO CAN DO THE JOB INSTEAD OF WASTING TAXPAYER MONEY PAYING THESE IDIOTS who build more stations when they can't manage the system they've got..

Until the state puts some

Until the state puts some funding back in the STA funding (of if we radically change the funding formula for transit), you can probably expect shorter and less frequent trains to continue. Just be thankful BART isn't raising fares again this year (considering many other agencies around the state will be hiking theirs). BART's set to lose nearly $10 million in STA funds, and will, barring any miracle, lose the rest of it in FY09-10. It remains to be seen whether FTA throws some money into operations (because as you stated in your post... infrastructure is nice, but you need money to run it). I'm willing to bet they'll go back to the 20 minute all weekend and evening headways as well.

There is so much a T.O. can

There is so much a T.O. can do, it's not like we can pass up a stop or do "Drop-off Only" like a bus, (even though it would be kinda cool) all we can do is tell passengers on the platform to wait for the next train. Believe me it has been complained about by operators that the short trains don't work especially coming from SFO.

Older trains run by fewer

Older trains run by fewer employees and more budget cuts on the way. How is BART supposed to carry more passengers?

11:09PM Friday night?

11:09PM Friday night? Probably a large contingent of theatre-patrons from Civic Center (Orpheum) and Powell Street - ACT. BART isn't going to add trains for one packed load.

nope, and there is no Maximum

nope, and there is no Maximum Occupancy for a train..

I also feel safer in a packed train, I feel less safe when it is me and the thug.

But the comment was entertaining..

I can feel for you with this.

I can feel for you with this. Packing a train to the breaking point is just asking for disaster if something (ie: fire, evacuation, earthquake) happens.

However, the Train Operator had no say in how long her train is. She was assigned a train that had likley already been broken down by the Yard Operator who takes his/her instructions from higher up. I don't know if her asking passengers to move down or wait for the next train would have been effective. It doesn't sound like it.

What would be the violation(s) that you report to OSHA? Have any OSHA violations occurred? That's not my area of expertise... so just wondering.

I'm always floored by people

I'm always floored by people who resort to name-calling. The "idiots" who are building new stations and running trains don't deserve this kind of silly abuse. I bet you get frustrated and bitch at Customer Service reps, spewing out a bunch of bile like this post.

It's really no wonder why society is as spoiled and self-important as they are. The cycle repeats itself.

You live in the extremely

You live in the extremely overcrowded SF Bay area.
The population of the bay area is about 7.2 million, second only to NYC.
The freeways are busting at the seams with traffic.
There is nowhere to park almost anywhere ever in the city or east bay.
Crowded conditions is what you have to deal with living here.

And you're upset that the trains are packed. (Rolls eyes)

If you want public transportation that isn't crowded, move to Idaho and ride the bus.

I agree. It is absurd to

I agree. It is absurd to actually think you could get good service. I mean it's not like you fork over $6.20 a day to get to work. You should be grateful that you get to ride in urine soak trains, run by inept and lazy workers. So what if you are stuck in the transbay tube because the trains are literally falling apart? Smile and be happy. Lowered expectations are the way to go..........

$6.20 you must be coming from

$6.20 you must be coming from a long way. Heck I pay $5.00 2 rides Round Trip..

As for urine, well blame the people that piss on the train, seems like you blame BART. I have yet to see a BART Employee piss on a train.. I have seen them take a train out of service because of pee at Daly City.

The employees I know are not lazy, but I have run into a couple.

Most of the things that iritate me are usually the business policies, like handling bad ticket, and that Teen tickets can be set so they don't have to add money when it gets low, yet BART has the seniors, disabled, and kid tickets to where they must add money.

$6.20, MacArthur to Embarc is

$6.20, MacArthur to Embarc is $3.10 and of course back is another $3.10. No the BART employees aren't the ones urinating on BART, but last time I checked, people were PAID to keep the trains clean and running smoothly. Of course, the easy solution to this is for people to stop pissing on the trains, but I would expect people earning wages cleaning trains to have a little pride in their work and not showcase the half assed effort put forth by everyone at BART (minus BART PD, they are always nice and helpful).

How do you figure everyone at

How do you figure everyone at BART does a half-assed effort.

i think pride can only go so

i think pride can only go so far. i am not a janitor, but if i was i could guarantee you that there would be a "piss that broke the camels back." there is only so much you can clean up after inconsiderate people before you say "fuck it." IMO, a janitor's job should be to take care of GENERAL cleaning - cleaning windows, vacuuming floors, etc. even considerate people are going to track a bit of dirt in from the bottom of their shoes. someone taking a shit in the back corner of a train is just disgusting. those people should be permanently banned from bart.

If you are at Daly City on

If you are at Daly City on weekdays there are people that walk though the train that turn around there and pick up all the trash that people leave behind. and at night the "Car Cleaners" do mop the floors and vacuum the carpets.

But you're right I also think that they should be banned from the system.

I hated when I walk into a car and all you smell is beer that spanned the whole car.

Last night I caught some

Last night I caught some jackass pissing on the platform at Fremont. There was a perfectly good restroom downstairs. Needless to say, he got a nice little citation to carry out of the station when I "KICKED HIS DUMBASS OUT".

One pisser down, several hundred more to go... I'll be glad when all of the carpet is gone from the trains.
