Escalator @ Embarcadero

nanunanu's picture

I'm hoping the escalator at Edmbarcadero is fixed by monday. This is the 3rd morning in a row that I almost rear ended some dude in the ass with my face as he suddenly and without warning, stopped to bend over and fool around with stuff in his rolly bag/briefcase thingy on the middle of the stairs during morning commute (just enough room for a line of people to go up and a line to come down, both happening at the same time). One guy's excuse was him pointing to his umbrella saying "I don't want to get wet".

Yeah, so if we could expidite the fixing of the escalator I would appreciate it. The whole ass-face rearending thing at 8 am does not make for a happy start to a day.

The elevator going up to UN

The elevator going up to UN plaza was out of order today too.

The NW Embarcadero escalator

The NW Embarcadero escalator (up to Drumm Street) is still broken, and there is no sign anything is being done.

But speaking of signs, in the height of irony, has anyone noticed the white sign on the wall near the broken escalator? It trumpets the "new" escalator and calls it our "fare dollars at work." Does anyone know how long ago that particular escalator was put in or replaced? I am guessing my fare dollars didn't work very long. And what makes an escalator fail so badly that it is out of commission for weeks?

Monday morning it wasn't

Monday morning it wasn't working but the barricade was down and there was just a plastic chain with a zip tie holding it in place at the bottom. Monday eveing, working fine. I thought, cool, tomorrow I will be on the escalator. Tuesday morning, turned off. Tuesday evening turned on and working. This morning, turned off. I'll see if it's working when I leave work... I think they are messing with us. I could be mistaken and just seeing people walk up the escalator, and assuming it's turned on... hmmm, guess I'll have to pay more attention to be really sure.
