Why So Many Equipment Problems On Trains -- We Were Dumped at Lafayette Last Night

Our T.O. managed to fix the train too and Central still took it out of service; that sucked in the rain. It seems like every train has a problem any more. If the cars are so worn out that they can't run without issue, why is BART building more stations and not replacing the train cars?

So today, I start out early only to be delayed (not much) because of Police Hold at Pittsburg Station. I could see BPD driving out to Pittsburg as I was driving down to Concord and the CHP was assisting so I was wondering what was up. I hope BPD caught them. I'm sick of the slime that lives out there and the wonderful City of Concord wants to put 28,000 more slime in clustered transit villages by North Concord BART. So Yuck and say good-bye to BART parking. I hope I get to move before all of that starts. That is definitely the last straw. It is already too hard to get around that entire area any more. There are already too many people. I can't wait until those people get to smell the wonderful Tesoro air from that nasty ass, cancer causing, toxic waste water pond.

Screw HUD and Section 8. I hope Obama does away with these fucking suck the system for all you can moochers, i.e., residents of Pittsburg /Bay Point / Antioch / Concord.

It happened again tonight at

It happened again tonight at Fruitvale after a medical call at the station. Central control was shuffling passengers from one side of the platform to the other to keep the trains running. Some dumbass decided to force the doors open because he/she was too late getting to the other platform in time to board the train. What happens next, the train goes out of service. Everyone that got off the train with the medical call was now forced to get off the next train too because it had to be taken out of service!

Maybe the Train Operators can help me out here because I am no expert at train failures. But I have been told, forcing the BART train doors open is a quick way to put a train out of service and screw up everyones commute. Don't do it!

Whomever broke the train tonight, deserves a great big "dumbass of the day" award because guess who all of those patrons saw when they had to off-board the train? BART Police..... Like we don't have enough enemies right now.

According to a TO, forcing a

According to a TO, forcing a door will jam it. If it is not peak time, central will send the TO back to unjam the door. Then, he will lock it out, so it is inoperative. Even if he knows it won't jam again, he'll still be told to lock it out. Sometimes doors jam from debris (plastic sacks or cardboard or small objects like pebbles or batteries) and, often, he will cycle the doors to unjam them. Many times, passengers see what's causing the jam and will remove it. Sometimes a passenger will knock the door off the track, so it will not move. He then has to unjam it, then lock it out. It is rare for an object to jam the door, jammed doors are caused by people. Sometimes he just can't unjam it, and then the train goes out of service. During off-peak, there aren't many trains behind him, and he usually has five, or fewer cars, so he doesn't have to walk that far. And,. ridership is lower, and he can make up the time.

If it is commute time, then the train gets swept, and taken out of service. There isn't enough time, especially since it is usually a long train. If you are on a commute train, and the door doesn't close all the way, pull it shut. The train you save may be your own!

About a dozen stations are notorious for door jammers; many TO's try to get the doors closed at the "perfect" time, so they are less likely to get a jammed door. And, don't expect a courtesy door cycle, once the doors are closed and show good on the control panel, it's pretty unlikely they'll reopen. It;s all in the rhythm, some TO's get a jammed door every week, other TO's get one every two years.

So if you do get caught in a

So if you do get caught in a door, what is the best course of action? Simply wait until the door opens? It sounds like you shouldn't try to open them yourself.

I've been caught waiting for people to off board and then not given a chance to get on. This wouldn't have been a problem if the two douches inside had stepped a side to allow a free flow exit.

I've lived in Concord for

I've lived in Concord for much of my life. I don't really consider myself or my family and neighbors slime.

Douche.

You may not be, but Concord

You may not be, but Concord is definitely no Pleasant Hill, Laf, Orinda. Moraga, Alamo, Walnut Creek, Clayton, or Danville.

Heck, i think Pittsburg has a worse reputation, yet has a less crime..

That's a WHOLE OTHER topic

That's a WHOLE OTHER topic that's been pretty thoroughly covered over on the Mayor of Claycord's site:

Pitt Mayor: We're Better than Concord

Numbers wise they look about the same, but my gut feeling is that if you looked at crime rates within the city limits of each, Pittsburg would have an evenly distributed crime spread, but Concord would have pocket neighborhoods of high crime. I don't have anything to back that up though.

i don't have stats on that, but i would put money on it that it is true. for example, i doubt there is much crime in that mythical city referred to as "walnut creek border" by its inhabitants. i have a couple friends that live there.

friend: we're having a housewarming party!
me: oh great! i didn't realize you moved. where's your house?
friend: walnut creek border
me: you mean concord?
akward silence
me: cause if you meant alamo, you probably would have said "alamo."
i get uninvited to the party.

Well you need to look at

Well you need to look at crimes by population..

Small town with 5 robberies in a month could be much worse than a large town with 20 a month.
