Apparently they were trying
Apparently they were trying to connect two trains together to make a longer train. When the one connecting train tried to slow down the brakes apparently didn't work (possibly icey tracks). Both collided and caused some injuries to certain patrons and caused the train to shut down and be invesitgated and repaired. That's the info I got.

thanks for the info...between that and the fight between two women on a Fremont-Richmond train, it was quite the exciting morning...I just hope the evening commute goes a little better.
My husband was on that train.
My husband was on that train. He said it was pulling in to Fremont (he had no idea that there was another train in front of it) and he stood up to prepare to leave when there was a sudden, jolting stop, the front of his car sagged (he was not in the lead or last car) and a cloud of smoke or dust rose up near the front seats of the car. After waiting a few minutes, he pulled the emergency exit at one set of doors, but they wouldn't open, so he pulled the other set and was able to get one door open. Seems everyone got off ok.
On the way home tonight, the train was still there, roped off with caution tape. He talked to the station agent, who speculated it was a 'hard couple' which sounds like another topic altogether :-)
