Signage Project at Embarcadero?? - I hope so!!

Basel's picture

Numerous platform pathway signs are not illuminated (especially exit signs near staircases). Signs that were attached to the wall designating "Embarcadero" removed on the Daly City side of the tracks. These are safety and passenger critical signage - what gives? Tell me there's an in-progress project going on in the station. Not good PR for a world class transit operation.

It's part of a test for MTC's connectivity project.

BART is working with a bunch of other agencies to improve wayfinding and other information at the 24 regional locations selected.

Embarcadero / Ferry was the location used for testing (it's the test signs that you've seen) and will be the first to have new, permanent signage installed.

Okay, near the Ferry Building

Okay, near the Ferry Building end just below the Federal Reserve Bank building, there was a white on green illuminated sign (similar to a highway sign) with a arrow pointing up and 1B - again similar to a highway exit sign. No explanation given. Thanks. Let's hope the permanent signage is consistent with the BART font (Univer) and well thought out. At the present time, the platform signage is grim at best.
