Why are there no change machines next to the Addfare machines at Montgomery?

There isn't one change machine in the entire Montgomery station beyong the fare gates. I had to exit out of the emergency gate, go out and find the one measely change machine they have at Montgomery which is WAY far away from the addfare machines, get change, come back in and add fare. I should have just fucking walked out and not paid my fare at all which I could have easliy done because the station agent couldn't have cared less, but being an honest person, I went back in and paid my fare.

Yesterday, I'm trying to purchase a ticket at Concord, one entire wall of machines was not working properly or completely of service.

The fare gates are broken too or operate so slowly that it causes people to bump into each other when exiting during commute hours.

What gives BART? The BART system continues to disintegrate. "Retarded Transit"

I feel your pain. I was at San Bruno and had nothing but a twenty on me. I didn't want a pocket full of dollar coins to make up for a 1.25 I was short on a ticket. So, the attendant let me go out the emergency exit - get change - go back in - refill my ticket - then be on my way.

I have a real good solution

I have a real good solution for your problem. How about having enough money on your ticket before you enter the frigg'n system!! The change machine is next to ticket machine and should only take a minute to process both transactions. But if you rather hunt down an agent to let you out to do the same thing you could have done before coming in, GO FOR IT. I'll be the one laughing at you as I am walking out the station.

the only problem with adding

the only problem with adding fare BEFORE entering the station is that you might miss a train. Depending on the time of day, this could increase your commute time by as much as 20 minutes. save the "plan ahead" comments. there is no good reason why there can't be change machines inside the stations.

Fine then boopie, purchase a

Fine then boopie, purchase a ticket with enough fare to get you where you need to go the next day when you exit the station. But I suppose you are NOW going to complain that you will be one minute further back in your vehicle commute home from BART. Whatever! People need to take some responsibility for their lives once in a while.

i buy high value tickets with

i buy high value tickets with my commuter check and always have change on me to addfare for that last exit. all i am saying is that it is rediculous that they have change machines outside the paid areas but not inside the paid areas. it doesn't make any sense. how much can a change machine cost? even chuck-e-cheese can afford change machines.

If they would just put

If they would just put regular machines instead of those stupid add-only machines inside the gates it wouldn't be an issue.

I had plenty of money on

I had plenty of money on several of my tickets except for that particular ticket, the printing wasn't legible and it was down to $3.45. So how about you go fuck yourself. I do wageworks every month and I could have walked out without paying but i didn't. I only had tens and twenties so fucking shoot me you asshole.

When you do high value tickets like i do, at some point, you will have to add fare or. cash in your tickets at the transit booth which is often not convenient because there isn't one at Montgomery that I know of which means I have to go somewhere else and they close at 4:00 and they are closed at lunch, etc., so I 98% of the time I do have the correct change in anticipation of that because I do not like to collect tickets either. I have plenty of demagnetized ones to cash in.

I can't believe I have to put up with your rhetoric when BART should have change machines that will change ANY bill or give you quarters inside the station it is fucking 2008 here.

I also noticed that most of the machines outside the gates don't work and there is only ONE change machine at Montgomery. It isn't realistic to expect people to have correct change 100% of the time except I guess for royal righteous assholes such as yourself.

What a dickwad you are. I guess you are legend in your mind! You are a true jerk.

It would be nice if wageworks

It would be nice if wageworks and ez-rider hooked up and played nice together. A problem is that you can't use wageworks directly with the ez-rider card easily.

People at my work say you can have your pretax transit go onto some kind of transit credit card instead of having them send you BART tickets (sort of like the medical savings account credit cards).

Then you can have ez-rider refill from this special transit credit card instead of your personal credit card.

Only problem with this is that I don't want to deal with keeping track of the balance of my special transit credit card to be sure that I always have enoughfor a $45 refill of my ez-rider card.

Can't all the transit system just get along? Oh I forgot, that was the point of Translink, which is an even worse mess. No wonder BART just did their own system, since they must've had good information that Translink was a complete joke and was unlikely to be accepted anywhere after years of pouring money down a rathill. Don't get me started . . .
