I've thought about this quite a bit and decided I'm not going to jump right on the parking thing, despite the fact I think it's a really cool idea. The main thing I'm not clear on is whether parking pulls out of the same funding 'pool' as the BART fare. I really don't want double $48 pools of money outstanding. That's just too much money to float BART ahead of time, especially since I'm sure they wouldn't refund it easily.

I already signed up for parking / ezrider card online. Bart already charged my CC, but Colma Station parking is not ready until 12/15/08... So, now I have 40 just sitting in my ezrider parking account. I called BART to see why they took my money out so early, the lady said it's already in effect in other stations.....I just hung up the phone.... ohh well... LOL

Downtown Berkeley station doesn't have parking, so it would be of little to no utility. Plus, it's less than a mile from my house, so I just hoof it. (I have considered biking, but it seems like it would almost be more trouble than it's worth.)
