Help?
I'm a mom returning to work part time, commuting from PH BART to Oakland (yes, taking BART, not using the lot for any other reason). My time is pretty inflexible b/c I can take only 1-2 trains to get to work on time after dropping the kids off in the morning & 1 -- maybe 2 -- train to make it back in time to pick the kids up.
Days 1 and 2 I found parking in the garage (parking gods must have smiled on me my first day b/c I found a spot on the 3rd floor at 8am). Day 3 I was not so lucky; after driving around the neighborhood for 20-30 mins, I decided working from home could be an option since today was a bunch of conference calls anyway. But what about Thursday and all the days after that?
Anyone have any insight on how to score parking around PH BART station after 8am? I can try to get there by 7:50am, but can't really get there any earlier. B/c of kids, biking, mass transit, carpooling, and other forms of alternate transportation to BART are not an option.
... Or, should I just start buying the daily reserved parking? If so, do you suggest daily or on certain days of the week? I am hoping that once work is routine I can try to telecommute more frequently.
I appreciate your help with this issue.

Have you really looked into
Have you really looked into using a bus or does that idea just not appeal to you? If your schedule is that tight, then your only option is to buy reserved parking. Now if you do that, how does that affect your bottom line? Is this job really worth it after figuring in all the added expenses? Perhaps you need to conduct a job search closer to home?
She mentioned that because
She mentioned that because she has to drop off her kids, that mass transit, incl. buses aren't feasible.
I would say that you're kind of stuck with paid daily or monthly reserved parking if you are stuck going to PH station. Is it possible to try another station? Concord has a good deal of free parking, even available at that time of day. Good luck!
you say that biking isn't an
you say that biking isn't an option because of kids. how far is their school from p-hill bart? could you drive to their school with the bike on a bike rack, leave the car at school, and bike to closest bart station?
I like the way you're
I like the way you're thinking. A mile or two is only about 15-20 minutes even in the worst of shape. If it takes 30, then a little workout would be a _good_thing_.
A craigslist bike and a lock. Done.
Added years. Bonus.
Watching kids graduate. Priceless.
