Dublin/Pleasanton Trains at 6AM keep shrinking - why?

Ok, life was good before the last fare increase when there were 9-10 car trains leaving DP to the city at 6AM. After the fare increase the cars dipped down to 8 car trains, sometimes 9. This week it suddenly shifted down to 7 cars. After the promise of more cars and better service after the last fare increase, I don't understand why my line is suffering train car attrition. Now BART is bitching and moaning about not having enough money after ridership has increased drawing in more revenue. If I see the train shrink anymore I'm going to start driving to work!

Yeh, The same this is

Yeh, The same this is happening to the Richmond Fremont line. I ride that line in the evening around 10 PM. There use to be six cars. Now they are cramming everyone in three cars. How much are they saving by dropping a couple cars? I'll bet you don't see any of those six figure BART execs riding the Richmond/Fremont late at night.

I was recently told by a BART

I was recently told by a BART train mechanic that the huge car repair shop in Hayward has been down since May due to the electrical fire. Trains normally serviced and stored at Hayward have been divided or sorted out to Concord, Richmond and to a lesser extent Daly City (Colma?). The move doubled or tripled the car count at those yards, but the number of repair pits remain the same. Heavy overhaul normally done at Hayward has put a strain on some of the smaller yards. The June/July and August heat waves took a huge toll on AC units too.

Perhaps someone associated with mechanical rolling stock maintenance can confirm this.

Last night I was on a train

Last night I was on a train with those "maintained with pride - hayward shop" stickers. Someone had penciled in "concord shop" on both stickers. I thought it was strange, but based on what you are saying, it is probably correct.

7 car train this morning in

7 car train this morning in Dublin. Normally an 8 car.

The system is hurting right

The system is hurting right now for various reasons. Anytime a train is shorter than usual, the reason is not is not to mess with and inconvienience passengers on purpose.

Short train or no train. Lemme know which option is best out of the two.
