What happened that they had to put up this sign?

From this post

I complained about this last year. Something must of happened that they had to put up this sign at San Bruno. Maybe a lot of five year olds are starting to ride bart with their parents?

The sign reads "Kids 5 years old and up need a ticket to ride bart"

Funny that you just posted

Funny that you just posted this, because last night when I got off at del Norte around 7:30pm, I was behind a woman with 4 kids. One was a toddler, but the others were all in the 7-10 range. As soon as they got to the bottom of the stairs, the three older kids took off in a sprint and ducked under the fare gates. The station agent yelled something, and the mom walked along nonchalantly, seemingly pretending like they weren't her kids.

Wait will "mom" gets a three

Wait will "mom" gets a three citations at once.

She was probably pretending

She was probably pretending she didn't speak English, not pretending they weren't here kids.

We ride BART enough that by

We ride BART enough that by the time my kids were 4, they were begging for their own BART tickets. They were all very excited when they were old enough to need a BART ticket, and they always made a big deal about buying their very first one.

No, they were black -- no

No, they were black -- no language barrier.

That's not an official BART

That's not an official BART sign... chances are an Agent just got tired of seeing the (guessin' - based on the fact the sign is in Spanish) kids duck under or run through (piggyback) and the parent being unresponsive.

Fare evasion is a crime...
