Public Transit Sucks
I had to remind myself tat I was riding public transit the other day. I think it was Thursday or Friday (the site was not accessible), but I was on a train bound to Bay Point, and there was literally and enitre family (all 3 generations) on last car, seated in all the rear seats between TO cab and doors. Doesn't sound like a lot, but I could have sworn I entered a nursery school; toddlers running up and down the aisles, someome walking a baby up and down the aisle. WTF? Oh yeah, I am on BART, not riding in the comfort of my car.

I live in SF, but work in
I live in SF, but work in Palo Alto. I work in the hills, not down by the station, so I basically have to drive to work every day on 280. I get so sick of it because I sit by myself with nobody to spend time with, constantly concentrating so I don't kill other people. It's 2 hours of my life each day wasted.
Once a week, I get to work in my company's SF office. I cherish those days because I get a fun train ride to work instead. I get to sit with interesting people, and maybe make a new friend. It's nice and fun and I don't have my time stolen sitting by myself in a little coffin.
I've come to the conclusion that commuting by car is only a happy thing for antisocial people. o.o
Only the mindless allow
Only the mindless allow themselves to become bored. Try carpooling, satellite radio or books on tape! Maybe a convertible? Or you could amuse yourself honking at those with political bumper stickers you find offensive.
Carpooling doesn't work well
Carpooling doesn't work well at all due to the need to synch schedules. I don't work in a place where everyone works a "shift".
I had my cherished train ride on my Thursday commute though. I met a neat old guy originally from New York and we had a great conversation about the cigarettes he likes to roll, and then I met a new friend who works in a similar job who I may be hanging out with with soon. ^^
On the way back, I met a beautiful French girl on tour, and I gave her restaurant suggestions. Then I randomly ran into two people who were from my best friend's tiny tiny town, and they didn't even realize she had moved here. =)
Books on tape really can't compare to these things. =P
Wow, I thought people gave
Wow, I thought people gave you laser-death-looks on BART if you tried talking to them. Well, aside from the obviously lost tourists, anyway. Maybe that is just at rush hour and the PBP line, though.
I don't drive in to work very
I don't drive in to work very often, it's just too darn expensive and hard on my car, but on occasion I get a hold of one of the company cars when I have non BART friendly business to attend to. I use the bridge traffic as an excuse to drink my coffee and sing in the car. It's a treat because I rarely drive long distances by myself and I try not to subject my singing on other people.
I sing in the shower. =3 The
I sing in the shower. =3 The coffee I drink at work.
I'm used to driving long distances by myself, I used to live in a tiny-population mountain state. Driving 200+ miles to get to the airport isn't fun.
(And the most frequent night driving activity is driving to Walmart, because it's the only thing for young people to do at 1AM since everything else is closed. The Walmart social scene -- you'd be surprised how pervasive it is in Middle America. =P )
Isn't open discussion great?
Isn't open discussion great? You see here we have two totally opposite views on a certain subject matter.
