My Truck Was Broken Into At North Concord Tonight
I think I interrupted them. $800.00 for a new rear window.
8/13/08: Correction, $865.00 for the window and $200.00 to install it plus two days off of work to deal with this. I gave the guy $25.00 extra on the install because Dodge rear window removal on those trucks just SUCKS and he did it perfectly without scratching the paint which was important to me. The windows go in easy; they are tough to remove correctly because of their design.
Miner at Pronto Glass in Concord; highly recommend. All Star Glass, recommended to me by Lithia, I DO NOT recommend. My truck needed to sit a while after install so it is good that they come to your home now.
I'm very scared to leave my car at BART today (Wednesday).
Think it is time for a Passenger Parking Lot Watch Committee or something.
Am looking forward to this weekend; have to detail one more time now.

what happened to that whole post about 'gerald'
That blows. North Concord
That blows. North Concord seems to have a reputation for thieves in the parking lots. Probably because the parking there is so isolated from the rest of the station.
Good night for bad guys. Bad
Good night for bad guys. Bad night for good guys. We had a handful of burglaries at the station. Sorry :-(
I deleted the rest of the
I deleted the rest of the original post because I didn't want the T.O. that tried to help me to get in trouble for mentioning Gerald's name to me and then I come on bartrage.com, etc., plus the f word was in it and i'm trying to clean up my cursing a little but it was just one of those weeks.
Well they showed up with the wrong dam window this morning telling me my factory window is not available any longer so I sent them on their way and called Lithia and ordered my dam factory window. Spent the entire weekend cleaning glass, prepping the window, and detailing. No further damage, YIPPIE! I didn't get any sleep Friday night at all because every noise I heard. They had gone through my registration/insurance papers in my visor and I didn't know if they were coming here next. Don't leave anything with your address on it in your car.
Now it's $792.00 plus tax for a Window from Lithia which won't be here until tomorrow and I have to find a new installer.
Anyone know a good glass installer for Dodge Trucks? I want someone who will go slow and steady; don't care about getting the best deal. It is very easy to damage the paint and the entire rear window has to come out so i don't want someone who hasn't done this before or doesn't care about their work quality.
Thank you. I will be happy when I can make this a distant memory.
Am curious if the handful of burglaries were all in the later hours at North Concord?
Nevermind what Yelp says
Nevermind what Yelp says about these guys. I had my 99 Jetta windshield smashed by an orange street cone. These guys removed and replaced my windshield the same day. I do recommend that you go only during daylight hours - it is not a very safe neighborhood.

Most of the burglaries
Most of the burglaries reported typically have a time span somewhere between 0700 hours to 1800 hours. Unless we "on view" the burglary or get a report of a burglary in progress, it is hard to determine the exact time of occurrence. Most of them were reported before 6 P.M. that night.
Thanks, appreciate the
Thanks, appreciate the update. Is Concord or Walnut Creek safer to park at? I work 3 p.m. to midnight and get back into town around 1:00 a.m.
i've never parked at concord,
i've never parked at concord, but based on the SHADY characters i saw on the platform when taking my kids for a bart ride last week, i'd say nut creek all the way.
"Don't leave anything with
"Don't leave anything with your address on it in your car."
I guess you never heard of insurance and registration, eh? Those usually have your address on it, genius.
i was wondering about
i was wondering about insurance and registration. do any police officers have ideas on this? can you black out the address? will that get you in trouble in the event of a traffic stop? the insurance/registration is for my CAR, not my house, so who cares what the address is? the VIN will match and my name address is on my license, so there shouldn't be a problem if i were to black out the address on the insurance and registration, right???
i have had my car broken into twice now, and the thought of someone knowing where i live kinda creeps me out. although, both times my car was broken into in front of my house, so they sort of know where i live anyway.
none of my post is bart related, so i am going to throw something else out there: my office got a delivery of paper towels today from corporate express. four rolls packed neatly into a perfectly sized box, WRAPPED IN BUBBLEWRAP. i kid you not. paper towels wrapped in bubblewrap. wtf???
I once ordered a bunch of
I once ordered a bunch of titanium crowbars, they came in a box marked "fragile"
Registration paperwork always
Registration paperwork always has name and address on it. Try telling an officer at a traffic stop "oh yeah, this is just part of my registration" or "oh yeah, don't worry about this doctored registration form, it's just for my protection." He won't be very receptive and you might be cited for no registration.
Proof of insurance sometimes just has your name on it, like mine from State Farm.
I wouldn't worry too much about someone looking up your address after they break into your car. Those types of people are just looking for something to steal-- it's a one in a million chance that they'd be plotting a home invasion just because they know your address.
If you are concerned about
If you are concerned about having the address info in the car, carry it in your wallet. I made a copy of my registration that was shrunk by about 50%. Fits in my wallet without taking up too much space. It doesn't have to be the original, a legible copy will do.
i don't carry a wallet but
i don't carry a wallet but will follow your suggestion and just keep it with me. thanks.
i was told by the Acura car
i was told by the Acura car dealer/finance manager to take it out and do not EVER leave anything that can be traced back to your home inside your car. police will have electronic access to everything shortly, if they don't already, and when they do, i don't believe it will be required to have proof of reg and insurance in the vehicle any more when that happens. there are so many people with fake insurance papers anyway, it is useless proof. they will take your reg papers and forge it for some other car.
i had those papers stuffed into a visor and they've been there for several years; i had forgotten about them or they wouldn't have been there. i'll take my chances getting pulled over and not having the info. i have all my numbers memorized.
Cops do not pull anyone over
Cops do not pull anyone over till they run the plates.
If you have ever been pulled over and had at wait a minute of two before the officer came up to you it was cause s/he was running you plates first, making sure you are not a known risk with warrant (or the police chief's wife).
Asking for registration is just a formality, as they already got that info from DMV.
I got a ticket last year
I got a ticket last year because I had forgot to put my registration slip back in my car when I was calculating my taxes... Now I know the officer gave me a ticket because he was just being a dick. Nice.
Sorry; that bites. I have
Sorry; that bites. I have forgotten to stick the sticker on my plate a couple of times too, end up driving for six months like that and get some sort of a ticket, usually a fix it ticket or parking ticket. I will be headed to ANOTHER station today for parking.
You're trusting a car
You're trusting a car salesman for legal advice? Come on. I can tell you right now that he's WRONG. Ask a cop.
