Wow, Just Cancel a Train
BART is absolutely amazing sometimes (and I ain't trying to flatter in this case). I had read from a post how the play with train schedules to keep things on-time, or make it look like things are on-time, but I shrugged it off as a joke; why would BART (with it's own tracks, and little outside interference) puposely pull trains from the schedule to boost on-time performance? Well, I witnessed it this morning at the Pittsburg station. At 8:15, the LED boards SAID A 9 car train was at the platform. Since Pittsburg is the end of the line, that usually means a train is coming in on what is typically the outbound platform. So, we stood around for 3 minutes and waited and eventually the LED boards cleared, but no train appeared. Next thing I know, the LED boards now say a train was arriving in 2 minutes; by this time it is 8:19. Finally the appears, late and pulling in on the outbound platform (just as I suspected). Well, I would have thought we would pull out immediately since it was 8:20, but I guess Verizon Wireless's time must have been off, because someone made a decision that the train was so late already that it made it litle sense to leave. We finally pulled out at the 8:32 slot; no explanation, apology, just "this is a San Francisco bound train". Now, for those of you who want to say, well they probably turned around another train to cocmpensate and pick up riders further back up on the line, HA! I am on the last car and all seats are taken at Pleasant Hill. What happened to the 8:17 train out of Pittsburg, or if this is that train, what happens to the 8:32 train we bumped?

BTW, I checked the ETA system
BTW, I checked the ETA system and all trans are perfectly spaced 15 minutes (at least 3 trains) in and out of Lafayette. I have my own suspicions about the missing train, maybe a TO became ill, or maybe the poor train got ill. Maybe a train got sucked up into the twilight zone. Maybe a TO got stuck in the twilight zone. Maybe I am in the twilight zone?
Sounds like a job for Mulder
Sounds like a job for Mulder and Scully, because BART lost some time.
Are all the seats really taken before PHill by 8:30 in the morning? I guess there are some benefits to coming to work as godawful early as I do. I never had a problem at PHill getting a seat. Now that I'm at Lafayette I just take the Montgomery train and switch to get a seat.
Maybe someone gets a bonus
Maybe someone gets a bonus for on time performance??????
Can I get one for more daily trips to jail or better yet, fare evaders cited? It's a win/win!

I know this is off topic and you may have advised this before, but is the photo of your partner? I have two Shepherds at home and yours is a beauty.

To keep things on topic... I cannot see the destination signs or any BART trains to check whether they are on time from the back yard of my house where I took the photo of my canine partner Jo-Jo. As I tell the rest of the handlers while checking the on time reliability of BART trains, he is the best looking dog in the unit!
How's that for staying on topic?
