It's Rush Hour, Why Is There Only One Turnstile Open?

I take BART from West Oakland to San Francisco during the week and at least 50 percent of time, the station workers do not switch the turnstiles to accommodate rush hour. I know there has to be a schedule of some kind (or perhaps the agent can just look up from their People magazine once in a while to see if dozens of people are clogging up the area), because the Financial District switches the turnstiles for certain times of the day. I can't tell you how many times people have suggested to West Oakland BART agents that more turnstiles need to be switched over only to have the agent move at a pace so slow it's difficult to detect with the human eye. Seriously, get off your butt and do your job.

...and to add on to this...I
...and to add on to this...I would like to know why the escalators are only operating 'down' at the Hayward stations during commute hours? I have seen so many people (and have myself) missed trains because the have to run up all the stairs. I think it makes more sense to have them operating going up to the platforms especially since you have to climb stairs from the parking area to the station and then more to the platform.
even the montgomery escalator
even the montgomery escalator from sansome is running the wrong direction half the time. unless i get there after 5:00 PM, it is going up and out of the station rather than down into the station. who is heading INTO the financial district at 4:50pm???

If only they had brains! The people with brains NEVER get to make any pertinant decisions.
Agents ARE supposed to switch
Agents ARE supposed to switch the direction of the faregates to correspond with the commute direction. I don't know what the rule is, but I'm sure if someone were to look in the Station Agent Manual they'd find exactly what I'm talking about.
Complain, and if the Agent isn't responding or is giving you attitude, call it in or write it up. Just be sure the Agent isn't busy working on something BART-related.
The Hayward station, during
The Hayward station, during the PM commute, has the escalator going up.
Up to the platform that runs the SF and Richmond trains.
The escalator for the opposite platform is running in the DOWN configuration because...
About ONE MILLION (give or take) people get off the southbound trains coming home from work.
If the escalator wasn't going down there would be about ONE MILLION (give or take) people on the only stairway.
i hates peoples stepin' on my Gator's

Some of the escalators are
Some of the escalators are just too old to change direction. You need to remember, most of these stations were built nearly 40 years ago. The escalators are about that old. I know some of them can't change direction without running the serious risk of breaking down. Any Station Agents or Elevator/Escalator Service Techs care to elaborate?
Hey, its great exercise.
Hey, its great exercise. Just missed your train? Maybe you should have left your house 10 seconds earlier. If you think about it, every second DOES count if (and a BIG IF) trains are running to schedule.
