What Happened Last Night?

I saw the earlier post about a disabled train at Embarcadero at about 6pm. Did that screw up the rest of the night?

At about 7pm, I entered the Embarcadero station to catch a Richmond train. The first thing I hear is horror to any BART rider's ears: "Nine car train for Richmond in 21 minutes." WTF?

Then an announcement comes on telling all Richmond-bound passengers to board the Pittsburg-Bay Point Train (7 minutes away) and transfer at 12th Street. Of course, the PBP line is always packed as it is, so to say that it was SRO when it arrived is a gross understatement. I went to the very last car and squeezed on in the very last spot by the door. Of course, there was nothing to hold onto, so I braced myself by putting my hand up against the top doorjam. There was a really tall lady next to me in a designer suit and matching Coach gloves, purse and scarf. She looked horrified by the whole mess, and kept glaring at me when I would sway unintentionally in her direction (she was leaning up against the side of the sideways-facing seats, with her butt in someone's face). Lady, you're on BART. Get over yourself.

Anyway, this nightmare ride creeps over to West Oakland and finally we arrive at 12th Street. But is there a Richmond train waiting? NOOOO! "Nine car train for Richmond in 8 minutes." I repeat, WTF?

When the Richmond train finally rolls in, we then wait another 3 minutes for a timed transfer with the next PBP line. By the time I got off at El Cerrito, as soon as I exit the station, I hear another Richmond train -- probably the 21-minute wait train, pulling up. I should have waited.

Was all of that really caused by one disabled train at Embarcadero earlier in the commute?
