My good deed for the day

I was sitting in the four square seats and the dude across from me got up. His pockets must have been saggy cuz there was a wallet on the seat as he went to leave.
So I stopped him, pointed and asked if it was his wallet. He took it and left. That would have sucked for him... and I hope it was his.

Did he say thanks? Sounds like a jerk
A Real Jerk indeed! It's nice
A Real Jerk indeed! It's nice to do the deed, but no thank you would make me want to follow him and bump him over the head with my purse and kick him for no thank you.
Reminds me of the time I
Reminds me of the time I found a brand spanking new Razr when they first came out a couple of years ago. I called the few numbers in it to find the owner. I eventually found the owner and mailed it to them in Sacto. No thank you, no compensation for the postage etc. I should of just taken the chip out of my crappy Samsung and kept it. I probably will if there is a next time.
i will never return a cell
i will never return a cell phone if i find it. i have lost two and no one ever bothered to call me. seems pretty easy to find the owner - just call "home" or "sweetcheeks" or some similar sounding entry in the phone book.
i'm going straight to ebay if i ever find a phone.
One of my coworkers found a
One of my coworkers found a brand new 16GB iphone in the mens bathroom - back then they had just come out. He kept going back and forth whether to keep it or give it to the lost and found in the building. He eventually gave it to lost and found and the next morning the rightful owner picked up the phone. The thing is he said his Karma was going to kick him in the ass if he kept it. I told him I would of kept it. Then I saw all the things the iphone couldn't do so then I changed my mind.
I have had my share of good
I have had my share of good deeds too. And many of them went without a thank you. But I know deep down that they were thankful. I think sometimes we need to just pat ourselves on the back when we do a good deed. I used to have a bad habit of always wanting to get publicly acknowledged when I did the right thing.
I encourage those who do good deeds to continue even if the individual it is directed to doesn't show any sign of gratitude. Let's not sink down to their level of stupidity. We know the old saying, "Treat others the way we want to be treated". Karma really does suck when it's not on our side.
Snooze you lose. I just keep
Snooze you lose. I just keep whatever I find.
To you and to all the rest of
To you and to all the rest of you that replied you would have just kept the phone/wallet/whatever you find, I hope karma rips you all a new a-hole. Have a nice day!
He didn't exactly have time
He didn't exactly have time to thank me profusely as he was trying to get off the train for his stop, especially since he was furiously doing something with two cell phones with his friend the stop before and fiddling until almost the very last second before the doors closed.
He might have said 'gracias' on the way out I really don't know, and to be honest I don't care. I'd rather be thanked by my "customers", coworkers, and family than some weird dude on BART.
Being thanked by weird people
Being thanked by weird people on BART makes me feel a sense of community. ;)

Good for you! It is nice to know that there are still good honest people out there. Wish there was more like you!
I dropped my employer
I dropped my employer provided blackberry in the Balboa Park BART station a couple years ago. A kind lady picked it up and called me at work the next day. I had my name and contact numbers on the owner screen. After her call, I rode BART to her office and picked it up. I thanked her and offered her a reward, but she refused money, so the following day I sent her a nice flower arrangement. It wouldn't have cost me anything personally if I had neve gotten the phone back, but it would have been inconvenient for me, and cost my employer. I agree with TreoBART that honesty is the best policy.

Exactly. What we put out comes back at us ten-fold. Looks like someone is missing out.
