Who built the station elevators and escalators at the BART stations?
I'm wondering who manufactured the elevators and escalators at the BART stations.
Can anybody tell me who it was that built them?

If memory serves me, the
If memory serves me, the original BART design plans did not include an elevator to the platform level at each station. Elevators were added after final designs for the stations were completed. For example, the elevator at MacArthur Station is on the extreme north end and the ground floor is across the street on 40th - no were near the concourse area. Fruitvale Station elevators were built as attachments to the outside of the station. If someone could check, Union City or South Hayward Station has a bridge from one platform to the other with elevators at each end of the bridge. A contractor was selected to build the elevator for each station as they came on line - there was no master contractor. This goes with the design of each station too. Just check the "BART Plaque" at each station - the designer and contractor are different, the only common party is the principal contractor: PTB-Bechtel.
