Lettuce Lady

I've seen people eat on BART before, but Friday afternoon was a first. A woman was sitting in the handicapped seats on a fairly full train. She appeared to be in her early 20's and looked like the "Berkeley chick" type (though not too extreme looking). She opens a bag and takes out half a head of lettuce and starts chewing on it like a rabbit. She didn't break off any pieces--just biting into the lettuce head.

Rather Odd? Lettuce? I would make sense visually to break the leaves off for us looking at such madness. Maybe it was doctors orders? I'd like to see a combination of the reasons why she may have been doing that... Anyone want to give it a whirl?

was she an overweight "berkeley chick?" perhaps she was on a lettuce and lemon water diet?
