Parking in the boonies at the Dublin/Pleasanton station

At the D/P station there is that parking lot waaaay in the back by the new condos on the Dublin side. It looks like the lines have been re-drawn at some point and some lines are now black and are not actually parking spaces as it is an actual lane of traffic going in and out of a newer entrance. For the last little bit I have noticed that people have begun parking in the actual lane of traffic, even though the lines are blacked out, you can still see that there were once lines there and they line up perfectly in the lane to create a few spots. I have never seen anyone sited or towed for this. When it first started I only saw cars parked there when I got home in the evening. I assumed these were people that arrived late and were in to big of a hurry to look around for actual parking. But lately I have seen people parked there as early as 7:15, effectivly blocking the lane of traffic for people still entering the lot. Am I mistaken in my thinking that these are not real parking spaces?
