2ndshiftcommuter's blog

Hey all you bike haters, I may have found a solution

I take my bike on BART every time I need to take it -- one to five days a week to get to work. I work 2nd shift and commute against the rush anyway (SF to CoCo) but since I take the yellow line, there are many people with luggage and just people in general. The trains can be crowded even at 2:30 p.m., the middle of the day.

Complaint filed on BART's Web site today...

Hello,

More than a month ago, a high-value ticket of mine was caught in the machine at Dublin/Pleasanton. It was torn in half, so the station agent there wrote me a pass and I got out without problems at Civic Center. As it was near midnight, I didn't deal with the ticket until the next day. I went to Ticket Exchange in Civic Center and the man there told me to talk to a station agent for an envelope to mail it in. I talked to the station agent, who only gave me an envelope with an Oakland PO Box on it.

Anyone know what was up with the TBT today?

I was only held over for about 20 minutes. I was about to get off the train and take a bus over the bridge and then get back on BART in the East Bay when the operator announced that the trains were being released. I was only about half an hour late for work! Luckily Saturdays are a little more loosey goosey so I was alright. But it did make me realize that I probably can't rely on BART the way I thought I could.

Props to a T/O

Last night I was on the 11:38 train from Dublin/Pleasanton. It took me two hours to get home, but the TO kept us informed. He told us what was going on the whole time. We got stuck right before Bayfair station and he said he had to get out and switch tracks manually, something like that. Usually when I take the train home around midnight there aren't too many delays -- last week we got stuck in Oakland because of a fight on the car ahead of us and that took about an extra hour. Does anyone know what happened last night?

every 15 minutes

starting jan 1 they're running trains every 15 minutes nights and weekends! this is cool because they had been planning to do it before the gov. cut the budget. makes me very happy as i usually take one of the last 3 trains from dublin/pleasanton every night!
